Reclaimed oil and gas wells
Methodological background:
The total number of reclaimed wells is divided by the total number of inactive, abandoned and reclaimed wells.
Remarks:
An inactive well is one that has not produced oil or gas, injected fluids, or disposed of waste for 6 or 12 months, depending on the type of well and its potential risks to the public or environment.
An abandoned well is one that has been permanently sealed and taken out of service.
A reclaimed well is an abandoned one that has received a reclamation certificate.
Well figures are taken on December 31st of each year.
Data on oil and gas wells reclamation is only available for Alberta but neither for the national (Canada) level nor other provinces, that could be used to manually calculate the data for the national level.
