Personal life satisfaction
Methodological background:
Proportion of population who reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their life in general.
Remarks:
Life satisfaction is based on a self-reported score from 0 to 10 for how respondents feel about their life as a whole at the moment. Satisfied or very satisfied represents those who indicated a value of 6 or more out of 10. Life satisfaction figures are collected annually as part of the Canadian Community Health Survey, which includes additional information for sex and age for both the national and provincial levels.
Quarterly life satisfaction figures are collected as part of the Canadian Social Survey. This includes additional information for sex, age and indigenous identity, however the figures for the latter two are only available for the national level, and the data in principle only available since 2021. Therefore, the data from the Canadian Community Health Survey were chosen for this indicator.
